Well it’s the end of the week so I thought I’d offer a relaxed and reflective post. This kind of feels like a “how I spent my summer vacation” kind of school essay, but I was just thinking about the pros of working for yourself in online marketing and decided to put together this list of 5 reasons to start online marketing.
Sure you’ve got to worry about your own quarterly taxes (here in the States at least) and supplying your own health insurance, but I believe the pros certainly outweigh the cons. For example:
1 – You’re the boss. Easily one of the biggest reasons people get into online marketing in the first place is the ability to work for yourself so that you don’t have anybody breathing down your neck with assignments or deadlines. You answer to yourself and no one else.
2 – Make money AND time. Just as important as making money is making time for yourself. You make your own schedule in online marketing. I can’t begin to relate the number of times which I’ve been able to “sneak away” for a day at the beach with my friends or take in a matinee with my family during the week all thanks to the flexibility of this business. Eventually if you work hard and plan for it then you can start automate and outsource much of your business, as well, to keep up with the scalability of it all.
3 – You get what you give. This is both the title of what is possibly my favorite song from the 90’s as well as the reality of online marketing. The harder (and smarter) you work, the more you see coming back to you. Because you’re not working for anyone but yourself, every action you take directly affects you in a positive or negative way unlike most jobs where you can work your butt off to benefit the boss but without seeing an ounce of reward coming your way.
4 – Making sales a year after I write an article/post. One of my favorite things is pulling up an affiliate program account of mine and seeing a new commission I’ve just made off of something which I promoted so long ago that I forgot that I once wrote something on it. It happens often and it’s a reminder that marketing is never truly a waste of time even if you don’t see results right away.
5 – It’s fun! The above reasons combined with the fact that I love the business of online marketing means that at the end of the day, it’s just fun. You pick the products you want to promote/you can blog about what you like, there are hundreds if not thousands of ways to promote your business, the sky really is the limit when it comes to the world of online marketing.
What are you pros of online marketing?
