Making a video response is a great way to enjoy some of the runoff traffic from video which get tons of regular views. When someone watches a video which you have made a response for, they’ll see your response and have the option of clicking through to it. For this reason it’s important to only use video responses when it makes sense, otherwise no one will watch your video or someone may try to report you to the YouTube police if there is such a thing. Let’s cover how to make a video response in YouTube.

How to Make a Video Response

First you should be signed in to your YouTube account and have some videos of your own already uploaded or at least the one which you want to link to.

Next, go to the video which you want to create your response video from. Go to the comments section and click on the box as if you were about to type in your own comment. When you do this, you’ll see that a hyperlink appears to the right of the box which says “create a video response”.

After clicking on this you’ll have the option to either use an existing video of your own as the response, or conversely you can upload the video which you want to use if you haven’t done so yet.

That’s all you’ve got to do to make a video response in YouTube. Once this is finished you should see your video in the “video responses” section above the comments section of the video you created a response from. If you don’t see your video then that means there are likely more than 2 videos already acting as a response to that video and you just have to click on “see all” to see your video mixed in amongst the others.

When you view your video, you should see in the same location as the other video something that says “this video is a response to blank” where blank is the video which you created your response from.

Something to keep in mind is that you can only use each of your videos as a response to another video one at a time. So if you are already using one of your videos as a response to another video then you’ll lose that response once you tie it to a new video. This makes sense because if this rule wasn’t in place, spammers would take their spammiest video and make it a response to every single video with over a million views out there.
